THE BRIEF
A Disconnected and Dark Ground Floor
The original layout of this terraced house was typical of its era: a series of small, dark rooms at the rear that felt cut off from the garden. For a growing family, this created a disconnect, with no dedicated space for the children to play that was both safe and integrated with the main living areas.
THE PLAN
A Light-Filled Hub Connecting Home and Garden
We designed a full-width rear extension to create a single, expansive family room. By incorporating large bifold doors, we dissolved the boundary between inside and out, flooding the new space with natural light and providing direct access to the patio. The result is a bright, versatile hub for playing, relaxing, and family time.
